Cebu Hosts Launch of eGov PH Application and eLGU Kick-off
Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu – The eGov PH application and the eLGU initiative were officially launched on October 21, 2024, at 9:00 AM at the JPark Island Resort and Waterpark in Lapu-Lapu City. The event marked a significant step towards enhancing the digitalization of government services across the country.
The ceremonial ribbon-cutting and a brief tour of the eGov kiosk in the foyer area were led by key officials, including Undersecretary David Almirol of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) for eGovernment, Assistant Secretary Maria Teresa Camba of DICT Regional Development, Director June Vincent Manuel Gaudan, DICT Director for Management Information System Service, Director Frederick Amores, DICT Director for Region 7, and League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Cebu Chapter Vice President, Sun Shimura.
The eGov PH program, also known as the Philippine e-Governance initiative, aims to improve the delivery of government services through the use of digital technology. With over 8 million registered users, the platform enhances transparency, accessibility, and efficiency by offering online services such as business registration, tax payments, and access to public documents.
“The program not only empowers citizens by providing easier access to essential services but also streamlines government operations, promoting better governance throughout the Philippines,” Undersecretary Almirol noted during the event.
As part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize and increase efficiency, the eGov PH and eLGU programs are expected to revolutionize how Filipinos engage with public services, promoting a more transparent and responsive government.
